What does CORD do - Objectives
- Develop and strengthen a comprehensive, convergent, sustainable and participatory rural development programme.
- Empower rural women and youth.
- Help reduce poverty and increase economic self-reliance through micro-credit, income generation schemes and village-level enterprise.
- Provide community based healthcare through preventive and promotional measures as well as provide primary healthcare services through dispensaries.
- Strengthen local self-governance.
- Create awareness of the environment and implement natural resource management.
- Improve education, promote literacy and value-based education.
- Promote and facilitate social justice.
- Increase the capacity of women, men, youth and children to uplift their communities and themselves and to fire their latent potential.
- Network and collaborate with institutions, individuals, non-governmental organisations, governmental agencies and donors agencies to reinforce and promote the objectives of “CORD”
- Conduct training programmes towards fulfillment of all objectives.
Funding
CORD has received funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Pentagon Charitable Trust, Grow Talent Company Limited, Abilis Foundation, NABARD and many individual donors.
Legal Status
Registered under Charitable and Religious Trust Act,1920. Donations are exempted from tax under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
